  3. For Grandpa

A photo book for Grandpa. He'll pretend it's nothing.

Then he'll keep it by his chair. Everyone in the family adds a few photos and a line from their phone, and we print it in large type and post it to him.

Start a bookHow it works

The hardest person to buy for

He has the tools, the socks and the opinions he needs. What he doesn't have is the last year of his family in one place: the fishing trip, the first car, the grandchild he's only met twice.

A book does that without asking him to learn anything. No screen, no charger, no password.

What goes down well

  • Photos of things he taught people to do. Riding a bike, casting a line, backing a trailer.
  • The shed, the boat, the vegetable garden, the car. Whatever his thing is.
  • A short note from each grandchild. Even one sentence gets read more than once.
  • An old photo of him at their age, next to one of them now.

Made for older eyes

One photo to a page, so nothing is small. Captions in large type. Matt paper that doesn't glare under a reading lamp. It's 21 by 28 centimetres, about the size of a magazine, and light enough to hold in one hand in softcover.

Questions

Good to know.

Softcover or hardcover?

Softcover is lighter and easier to hold for long. Hardcover feels more like a present and stands on a shelf. Hardcover costs a little more and takes a few days longer.

Can we add old printed photos?

Yes. Take a photo of the print with your phone in good daylight, straight on, and add it like any other. We tell you if it's too small to print well.

How do I get photos from relatives who never reply?

Add their email and set a date. They get the invite, then a few reminders counting down to it, and the reminders stop as soon as they add something.
