Why local printing
A short trip is a quick one.
A parcel that crosses the world pays for the flight, waits at customs and sometimes arrives with a bill. A book printed down the road does none of that.
- Printed in the same country: Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and United States.
- Printed next door, inside the EU: Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and most of Europe. No customs.
- Sent by international courier: Hong Kong, India, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Philippines, South Africa, South Korea and Thailand. Slower, and customs may charge the recipient.
Questions
About delivery.
How long does delivery take?
About a week in countries where we print locally, such as New Zealand (4 to 6 days), the UK (5 days) and the US (6 to 7 days). Where the book crosses a border it can take two to three weeks. The table shows each country.
Do those times include printing?
Yes. They run from the moment you order to the day it's delivered.
Will the person receiving it have to pay anything?
Not in most countries. Where the book is printed in the same country, or travels inside the EU, there's nothing to pay. For Hong Kong, India, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Philippines, South Africa, South Korea and Thailand, the book crosses a customs border and the recipient may be asked for import tax.
Can I send to a different country from the one I live in?
Yes. You can make the book from anywhere. You pay in the currency of the country it's delivered to.
Can it be delivered to a care home, a PO box or a parcel locker?
Care homes and retirement villages, yes: put the resident's name first and the room number on the second line. In some countries the carrier delivers to a parcel shop or locker near the address. We can't promise delivery to PO boxes.
Is delivery tracked?
It depends on the carrier the printer uses for that address. You'll get an email when the order is placed with the expected arrival date.
What about Christmas?
December is the busiest month for printers and couriers. Order in the first week of December to be safe.
