A photo book you can read from an armchair.

Most photo books are designed to look clever on a designer's screen. This one is designed for a seventy, eighty or ninety-year-old reader, sitting down, in ordinary light.

What large print means here

Captions are set at up to 18 point. A paperback is about 10.
Notes from each person are set large too, on a page of their own.
Dark type on white paper, for the strongest contrast.
Wide margins, so thumbs don't cover the words.

One photo to a page

Collages make faces small. Here every photo has a whole page, 21 by 28 centimetres. A photo with a caption puts the words on the left page and the picture on the right.

Paper and size

Inside pages are heavy silk-coated paper. Covers are matt, so they don't glare or show fingerprints. Softcover is light enough to hold in one hand; hardcover has stiff boards and stands on a shelf.

We check the photos too

Large pages are unforgiving of small photos. If someone adds a shrunken copy from a chat app, we flag it before you order and print it smaller rather than blurry.

Can I choose the type size?

The size is set to be as large as fits the page. Shorter captions are printed bigger.

Are there different designs?

Ten cover themes, each with its own typeface. The inside pages are always white with dark type.

How big is the book?

21 by 28 centimetres, close to A4 or US letter, with 28 to 200 pages.
