- 100th birthday
A hundred years deserves more than a card.
Collect a photo and a few words from everyone who belongs to her, however far away they live, and give her a book of her own family, a century wide.
Start with the old photos
Somebody in the family has the albums. Ask them first, and early. A phone photo of each print, taken flat in daylight, is all it needs. We flag anything too small to print well.
Then ask every household for one recent photo, with everyone named in the caption.
Words matter more than usual
At a hundred, people have plenty of photographs. What they don't have is what each person wants to say. Ask for one or two sentences from everybody, including the children. Each note is printed on a page of its own in large type.
Practical things
- Softcover is lighter to hold. Hardcover lasts longer on a shelf.
- Order two weeks ahead so there's time to look through it before the day.
- Captions with names help everyone who reads it with her.
